Hi! I'm Gabi Nunes. Born and raised in Brazil, half Portuguese and currently living in London, UK.

In 2014 I graduated in Technology in Gastronomy (focused on management) back home, where I dedicated some time to the practice of gastronomy and started a blog sharing recipes and information with the world.

​

Long before that, music was already a part of my life. Since childhood, I’ve explored guitar, piano, drums and percussion — a passion that reignited in 2015 when I auditioned for and was accepted into the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, UK. There, I earned a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Music Performance (Guitar). It was an intense and transformative year that fuelled both my artistic and personal growth.

 

Some of my music projects:

- I played guitar for Rens Birgitta, with whom I've done multiple performances across London and have been a semi-finalist in the Hotvox competition for the Isle of Man festival in 2020 (we all know what happened there!)

- I currently am the guitarist for SúperNovae, a London based band  combining the raw energy of punk, with the vibrant rhythms of Afro Brazilian roots music.

- I also am a member of Baque de Axé, a London based band playing traditional Maracatu Carnival percussion music from Recife in Pernambuco, Brazil. Affiliated with one of the oldest surviving Maracatu bands, Nação do Maracatu Porto Rico.

 

I'm a naturally curious and analytical thinker, always eager to learn and take on new challenges. When the world slowed down in 2020, I seized the opportunity to expand my skills — diving into new areas and revisiting old ones like music, programming, digital marketing, photography, and language learning (besides native Portuguese and fluent English, I have intermediate Spanish and basic French, Italian and Dutch).

I am good at coming up with new ideas and am always looking to find a new angle, but also recognise the importance of combining this with tried and tested approaches.

 

I believe life is shaped by relationships, sounds, smells, images, tastes, and sensations — and understanding them helps make life richer and more meaningful.
